KPH has completed a 3,300 square foot addition for Avflight, a privately-owned company serving the global aviation industry with solutions to support the safe, convenient and expeditious movement of people and goods. This addition expands Avflight’s existing private operation located at General Mitchell International Airport.
This significant addition provides a private, upscale lounge area for customers waiting to board or exit their flights. The building features dedicated spaces for other essential flight operations members. For teams like the flight line crew, this addition offers a clear, wide view and quick access to the tarmac, allowing for readily available service while staying out of the elements. Pilots can also enjoy a private lounge with individual “Rest and Recharge Rooms” along with other amenities for flight planning and relaxing.
Avflight was looking for a reliable local general contractor to take on this project back in the summer of 2017. After an initial budget proposal, KPH was selected to work in step with the design to maintain and control the project budget.
In 2018, unsuitable soils were discovered during excavation, resulting in real-time engineering and design to adjust footings and foundation sizes. Adding a poured, slurry mix also helped stabilize the existing soils to stay on track. Even with the obstacle, KPH still came in under budget. The project marked over 10 years of work on the General Mitchell International Airport campus for KPH.
This clean and modern space will allow Avflight to continue to expand operations throughout the Midwest while still providing the same level of quality and service at each location.
